THE GARDENS OF CORNWALL

The Cornwall Hotel Spa and Estate is so near to the best Gardens of Cornwall :

The Eden Project

The Eden Project, built in a disused clay mine just outside St Austell, is only 5 miles away from The Cornwall.  The site has been transformed into a rich, global garden where visitors can learn about nature and get inspiration about the world around them.  It is a memorable day out in Cornwall for all the family.

Eden is also an educational charity and social enterprise, with much of their energy going into running social and environmental projects in the locality and around the world, creating unforgettable learning experiences for students, hosting fantastic arts, theatre and music events, creating stunning gardens, carrying out valuable research into plants and conservation and making sure they run their operations in the greenest possible way.  For more information take a look at www.edenproject.com.

Admission tickets for The Eden Project can be purchased by the hotel reception team, allowing you fast track entry as well as multiple readmission during your stay in Cornwall.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Only a few miles from The Cornwall is the award winning Lost Gardens of Heligan, the scene of one of the largest garden restoration projects in Europe. In the spring of 1991, the Gardens of Heligan lay under a blanket of bramble, ivy, rampant laurel and fallen timber. A year later, the restoration team opened the gardens to enable the public to share in the excitement of their discovery.

In the northern gardens are two and a half miles of footpaths, an Elizabethan mount, rockeries, summer houses, a crystal grotto, an Italian garden, a fine set of bee-boles, a wishing well and a superb collection of walled gardens. Remarkably much of the original plant collection has survived, sometimes to record sizes.

To the south lies 'Lost Valley' and 'The Jungle', a sub-tropical valley overlooking the picturesque fishing harbour of Mevagissey, and overflowing with palms, tree ferns, bamboos, gunnera and numerous exotic trees and shrubs. If The Secret Garden and Peter Rabbit captured your childhood imagination, then Heligan will not disappoint you. The story boards make the visit interesting even to the non-gardener!  Visit www.heligan.com for more details on The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Admission tickets for Heligan can be purchased by the hotel reception team.

The Cornwall has a Gardens Break available, offering accommodation at the hotel plus tickets to Eden Project and Heligan.  Click here for more details.
